Ballet..........not for the faint of heart!

The month of June is punctuated by a massive dance recital at the beginning and a ballet intensive at the end. Both are very anticipated at our house and so fun to watch. Dancing child had his first modern piece this year at recital and it was terrific!!! Then his greatest love, classical Balanchine method, was next as his class danced to: Le Roi S'amuse by Delibes.  This year they had three young men in his piece and it looked so beautiful to see them dance with partners.
Miss Lisa, a patient, demanding, hilarious dance teacher always has an intensive after the recital to work on new steps and variations.  She allows the parents to come at the end and I always enjoy sitting and watching these dancers soar and step lightly.  Ballet is the MOST physical sport ever.  When you are up close you find this out.    The sheer muscle power to do what they are doing - and making it look so light and effortless is quite something to see.  And who doesn't love ballet music...it really is so romantic in every sense of the word. It was a very fun time.  Here are some pictures that captured the day, and I will close with a quote from Miss Lisa to my son:

If Pointe were easy, it would be called football, honey!!
