{Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real}: A love of Words

Dracula is over:  Light and Love Win

"I tell you, as dark as this tale is, there is more light in it than darkness; more love than fear.  If you will listen, we will recount for you our tale; believe us or not, make of it what you will.  Ours is a testament to love."

The summer play is over, the sets and props are back in their boxes, the actors are on to the next thing...college....new jobs.....adventures.

But this play was so memorable in many ways.  Always being a lover of words...of well turned phrases...of apt expressions....I was struck by many lines in the script that Creative Child wrote for us.  Much was taken from the wondrous words of Bram Stoker himself, and other insights came from Creative Child.  What would we do without the written word?  How much would we miss in the world if writers and artists and photographers did not reveal it to us? 

 Glory be to God for those who see the beauty, the good, and the noble in our world....and are willing to share it.  Here are some photos that Katie, a lovely former student of mine, took for me during the performance and also some excerpts from the play.
This has been my week.  

"As always, love's instruments were a curious assortment - our company was composed of a thoughtful solicitor, by the name of Mr. Jonathan Harker. There was Quincy Morris, a cowboy from America; Arthur Holmwood, a quiet and humble aristocrat; and then, my good friend, John Seward, a gentle doctor who worked in the service of those feeblest of mind.  They were nothing special, nothing of note, nothing to the eyes of the majestic world - nothing at all, except to two young ladies."

Miss Mina Murray, who would become Mrs Harker and Mrs Lucy Westenra.  These were two of God's women fashioned by His own hand to show us that there is a heaven where we can enter, and that its light can be here on earth.  
Together we faced the darkness.
