P,H,F,R: I've been SENIORED

{PRETTY}

So, I had these great and wonderful intentions of getting unique and thought filled presents this year for my family.  One of my children has a penchant for all things Asian.  So, scrolling on Amazon I came upon a little Bonsai tree in a pretty pot.  "Eureka!", says I.  "The uniquest of presents!!!"  I pressed the "add to cart" button with great gusto and felt very proud of myself.
{REAL}
Now, as you read on, you might think me in my dotage.   As a matter of fact, you won't be alone in that assumption.  The other night a movie ticket boy  (who couldn't have been more than 16) charged me for a senior ticket without asking if I was a senior........my son started laughing and elbowed me in the ribs. "YOU've been SENIORED!" he said with such delicacy of feeling (cough cough).  But my ticket was about $4.00 less than his, so I felt justified and gloated,  "I haven't grown prematurely gray for nothing!!" says I.   But I digress...........
{FUNNY}
Yesterday, packages began to arrive and I opened them to check out all my purchases.  Well, lo and behold, I opened the little square box and gasped, "IT'S ALIVE!"  For there it was, a little evergreen tree alive in that box staring up at me.

 Why was I so shocked?  Of course it was alive.  It's a tree!  Why did I happily assume otherwise?  That is the burning question.   I pulled it out and read the directions.  It suddenly dawned on me that I, MYSELF, would need to keep it alive until Christmas Day.    The only thing I have successfully kept alive is pots of ivy.  THIS involves little green food pellets.  Oh dear!

So, there it is on my school room windowsill looking so happy and Bonsai-ish.  We made it through the first day.  Youngest Child is going to be my partner in this "keep it alive til Christmas" campaign.

So many morals come to mind:

1. Always read the fine print.
2. Take a botany class.
3. Look before you leap to the 'add to cart' button.
4. Embrace your gray hair.....it saves bank accounts!

  3. Oh my goodness, what a funny story behind that gift!
    And for $4 off a movie ticket I might consider turning a few hairs grey! ;)
